What Our Patients
Are Saying

"I am so thankful for David and his staff at IRA! David's support and calming presence, in combination with his knowledge of Chinese Medicine, was exactly what I needed to work through the emotional process of infertility.

When I started the IVF process, I did not know about Indiana Reproductive Acupuncture. After two failed cycles, I asked if there was anything else I could do to improve my chances for success. I was told about IRA by one of the nurses in the infertility office. Despite my anxiety, I decided to give it a try.

I got pregnant shortly after starting acupuncture treatments. Unfortunately, I suffered a miscarriage, but David was right by my side the whole time. I took a few months off from IVF, but continued to see David regularly. When I decided to try another IVF cycle, I became pregnant with twins and I am now six-and-a-half months along! David continued to provide support during the first trimester, it's hard to describe in words how lucky and blessed I feel. This pregnancy would not have succeeded without the help of IRA."

Update:
We are thrilled to share that M.J. welcomed two beautiful, healthy baby girls, into her family in November 2009!

Recent IRA Successes

A new patient came to see me for the first time in October. She had been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis. Her husband had a semen analysis which showed sperm fragmentation and abnormal morphology. They had been trying to conceive since 2001 and had unfortunately already gone through six different IVF cycles. The first five had all failed. She had been able to get pregnant on her sixth IVF cycle in July, but unfortunately had a miscarriage at seven weeks.

I began treating her two weeks leading up to her IVF embryo transfer and have continued to see her through her pregnancy. She is now eight weeks along and a recent ultrasound confirmed two little heartbeats!!

Woman, 49, Oldest IVF Pregnancy

A Park Avenue fertility doctor has broken the age barrier for women longing to be moms. Dr. John Zhang says a forty-nine year-old patient, at his New Hope Fertility Center, gave birth this month to a baby conceived with her own egg frozen at age forty-eight, the oldest on record.

"She's beautiful and healthy," the jubilant mom emailed friends after delivering her long-awaited daughter. "She's definitely the love of our lives!"

The infant made history in the world of IVF, which kicked off in 1978 with baby Louise Brown. "To the best of my knowledge, the oldest woman who has gotten pregnant from IVF with her own egg is forty-five," said Dr. Richard Paulson, a professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California, and a pioneer in the use of donor eggs.

Most Adopted Children Are Happy & Healthy

Most Adopted Children Are Happy & Healthy

According to the most extensive national data ever collected on adopted children and their families in the United States, the vast majority of adopted children are in good health and fare well on measures of social and emotional well being. Eighty-five percent of them are reported, by their parents, to be in excellent or very good health. And eighty-eight percent of adopted children age six and older show positive social behaviors.

That is contrary to the "negative stories that capture media attention", about adoption, says the study's co-author, Sharon Vandivere, a researcher for Child Trends, a nonpartisan Washington research group.

Called "Adoption USA", the report was written by researchers at Child Trends and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It was based on questions in the first ever National Survey of Adoptive Parents, a federal survey of two thousand families that had adopted children through foster care, private domestic adoption or international adoption.
